General Information
The Advanced Air 2530 Motorised Fire Damper functions as a fire protection system which automatically seals fire-rated barriers during alarm activation to stop flame and heat and smoke migration through ventilation ducts. The damper functions for both horizontal and vertical applications to provide dependable protection for commercial and residential and industrial HVAC systems.
The 2530 meets BS EN 15650 requirements through its ES 120 classification under BS EN 13501-3 and its successful testing in both airflow directions according to BS EN 1366-2. The damper achieves 120 minutes of fire integrity and smoke control performance which fulfills all UKCA and CE marking standards.
The 2530 uses an aerodynamic opposed-blade design with double-skinned metal-to-metal seals to achieve low leakage performance at normal and high temperatures. The jackshaft mechanism with electrical thermal fuse (74 °C) operates as a fire safety feature which disconnects the actuator to close the blades in under 15 seconds. The knee-lock mechanism maintains barrier integrity through mechanical operation without depending on actuator torque. The damper automatically reopens after power restoration through a process that takes about 90 seconds.
The 2530 model includes a modulating actuator which enables volume control operation for airflow management during regular system operation. The product exists in Grade 430 stainless steel form for applications that need superior corrosion protection.
The 2530 integrates perfectly with Advanced Air control panels from System 32, 32S and 42 to provide addressable monitoring and remote operation and complete BMS (Building Management System) connectivity. The systems provide easy commissioning and testing and maintenance operations while maintaining complete damper status tracking throughout the building.
Advanced Air delivers complete training programs and technical assistance and installation support to help professionals fulfil performance and regulatory needs for life-safety ventilation systems.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of the 2530 Motorised Fire Damper?
What is the purpose of the 2530 Motorised Fire Damper?
The 2530 is a motorised fire damper designed to close automatically when a fire alarm activates, helping to maintain the integrity of a fire rated barrier and to stop the spread of fire and both hot and cold smoke (including toxic fumes) through ventilation ducts. It offers low leakage at ambient and high temperatures and meets dynamic fire test requirements.
Which standards does the 2530 Motorised Fire Damper comply with?
Which standards does the 2530 Motorised Fire Damper comply with?
The damper is tested in both directions to BS EN 1366 2 and has an ES 120 classification under BS EN 13501 3. It also complies with BS EN 15650—the harmonised product standard for fire dampers—and is suitable for both horizontal and vertical installations.
Please see the Technical Bulletin for more information.
How does the 2530 Motorised Fire Damper operate?
How does the 2530 Motorised Fire Damper operate?
The 2530 incorporates an aerodynamic, doubleskinned blade profile with a metaltometal seal and opposedblade operation for low leakage. A unique jackshaft arrangement includes an electrical thermal fuse rated at 74 °C; when this temperature is reached, power to the actuator is disengaged and the blades close within 15 seconds. A kneelock mechanism holds them closed without relying on the actuator. Once power is restored, the damper reopens within 90 seconds.
Does the 2530 include options for volume control and special materials?
Yes. A modulating option allows the damper to function as a volumecontrol device, and Advanced Air offers a stainlesssteel Grade 430 option for environments requiring enhanced corrosion resistance.

During fire test certification, the damper meets a leakage requirement of ≤ 300 m³ h⁻¹ m⁻² at 300 Pa. Its maximum operating pressure is 1500 Pa and maximum duct velocity 10 m s⁻¹, making it suitable for a wide range of ventilation systems.
How is maintenance and testing carried out on the 0160 damper?
How is maintenance and testing carried out on the 0160 damper?
The damper should be tested at least once a year. Advanced Air’s “Easy Maintenance Link” (EML) allows a drop test without removing the damper: pulling the EML’s catch releases the blades, closing the damper; resetting involves lifting the blades back up and re securing the link. This design simplifies routine testing compared with some older curtain dampers.

How does the 0400 FME motorised fire damper differ from the 0400 MAN?
How does the 0400 FME motorised fire damper differ from the 0400 MAN?
The 0400 FME is a motorised fire damper that closes within 16 seconds of receiving an alarm and keeps the duct sealed to prevent the spread of fire and cold smoke. It uses a spring return actuator and an electrical thermal fuse rated at 72 °C; when the fuse melts, power to the actuator is cut and the blade springs closed in about 15 seconds. By contrast, the manual 0400 MAN uses a mechanical fuse thread and must be reset manually.
