TOPP Chain Actuators – Detailed Installation Guide

TOPP Chain Actuators – Detailed Installation Guide

This document provides practical fitting guidance for TOPP chain actuators, covering models C40/C40S, ACK4/ACK4S, ACK5, and C20 Series. It consolidates key points from manufacturer manuals and industry guidelines. This guide is intended as a quick reference but does not replace the official TOPP manuals, which must always be consulted before installation and operation.

C40 / C40S

Do’s – Best Practices

• Read and retain the manual as part of the device documentation.

• Use only on recommended window types (top-hung, bottom-hung) with correct mounting brackets.

• Verify voltage, stroke length (100–500 mm adjustable), and max load (400 N).

• Align chain coupling correctly: red side for top-hung, green side for vertical windows.

Don’ts – Warnings

• Do not use on unapproved frames or exceed stroke/load specifications.

• Do not install outdoors unless certified for such conditions.

Additional Notes

Ensure stroke adjustment is set correctly before commissioning.

ACK4 / ACK4S

Do’s – Best Practices

• Ensure full kit is present: actuator, brackets, template, and safety plate.

Retain manual as part of device documentation for the lifetime of the actuator.

• If the window is accessible below 2.5 m, fit an emergency stop device.

Don’ts – Warnings

• Do not omit safety plate or protective parts.

• Do not allow installation or operation by unqualified personnel.

Additional Notes

Carry out periodic checks and ensure proper electrical protection.

ACK5

Do’s – Best Practices

• Read and preserve the manual; installation only by qualified technicians.

• Confirm actuator specifications: ~300 N thrust, selectable stroke (100–400 mm).

• Check IP55 enclosure and CE markings before installation.

• Use correct brackets and ensure precise alignment to avoid chain or motor strain.

• Engage the integrated buzzer safety feature during setup.

• Follow manual override and emergency power cut-off procedures.

Don’ts – Warnings

• Do not disregard alignment or mounting guidelines.

• Do not expose actuator to environments outside rated conditions.

• Do not attempt repairs with non-genuine parts.

Additional Notes

The ACK5 includes additional safety features compared to the ACK4, including IP55 protection.

C20 Series

Do’s – Best Practices

• Use only with TOPP-approved motors and control systems.

• Respect thrust limits and available stroke settings (e.g., 240 or 300 mm).

• Plan wiring carefully if controlling multiple actuators; consider cumulative load.

Don’ts – Warnings

• Do not exceed rated thrust capacity.

• Do not use unapproved control panels or accessories.

Additional Notes

For multiple actuator systems, follow official wiring schematics to avoid overload.

Quick Reference Table

Model

Do

Don’t

C40 / C40S

Align brackets, verify specs, adjust stroke, use only on approved windows.

Exceed load/stroke or use on unsupported frames.

ACK4 / ACK4S

Ensure full kit is installed, retain manual, fit emergency stop for low windows.

Omit safety plate or allow unqualified installation.

ACK5

Check specs, align precisely, use buzzer safety, qualified installation only.

Ignore alignment guidelines, misuse outside rated environment.

C20 Series

Use approved controls, respect stroke/thrust, plan wiring for multiple actuators.

Exceed rated capacity or use with unapproved controls.

Disclaimer

This guide has been prepared for convenience and training purposes only. It does not replace the official TOPP manuals supplied with each actuator. Installers and users must always follow the latest manufacturer’s instructions and verify compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and professional standards. The responsibility for correct installation, operation, and maintenance rests solely with the buyer, installer, or end user.
